Mirage Mountain Resort Launches Industry-Leading Sustainability Program
Mirage Mountain Resort has unveiled a comprehensive sustainability initiative that positions it as the most environmentally responsible ski resort in Southern California.
Key Initiatives
Solar-Powered Operations
The resort has installed a 2-megawatt solar array that now powers 60% of its lift operations and base facilities, reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 1,200 tons annually.
Zero-Waste Dining
All three on-mountain restaurants have transitioned to compostable packaging and locally sourced ingredients. The resort aims to divert 90% of waste from landfills by the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Water Conservation
New snowmaking technology uses 30% less water while producing higher-quality snow. The resort has also partnered with local watershed conservation groups to protect mountain water sources.
Carbon Offset Program
Guests can opt into a voluntary carbon offset program at the time of ticket purchase, with funds going directly to reforestation projects in the San Bernardino National Forest.
Industry Recognition
The initiative has already earned Mirage Mountain Resort recognition from the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), which named it a finalist for the 2025 Golden Eagle Award for Environmental Excellence.
